Parijat Urja Chakra provides continuous access and exposure to the students and conducts and organizes various competitions which provides a platform to students to enhance their skills and build confidence. A Creative writing and storytelling workshop has been organized on 3rd and 4th May 2019 which will be facilitated by Mrs. Paro Anand.
Paro Anand is a Sahitya Akademi, Bal Sahitya Puruskar winner. She has published 29 books for children, young adults and adults. She was recognised by President APJ Abdul Kalam for her contribution to children’s literature and one of her books has been on the IBBY Honor List, an international recognition. Her book, The Little Bird Who Held the Sky up with his Feet, was selected as the gold standard for children’s books by an international body which selected the best books worldwide. BBC Hindi selected her for the 100 Women’s Wall. Through her program, Literature in Action, she has travelled all over India as well as internationally, representing Indian children’s literature in countries like Sweden, Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Singapore, Bangladesh etc. She was invited by Harvard University to speak at the Harvard India Conference. Her works have been translated into Spanish and German.
She headed the National Centre for Children’s Literature, NBT, India, the apex body for children’s literature in the country. She set up libraries and conducted training programs for writers, illustrators, teachers and librarians as part of her work there.
Literature in Action seeks to empower young people through stories. She runs workshops for storytelling and creative writing and helps to expand young minds and fire creativity and language.
